So I got the Murray's carb set up. It was Plug and Play, just as they said. Fo me it made a big difference. Really woke the bike up. I did electronic ignition at the same time. I'm please with the performance so far. Dependable, as opposed to the 42 year old stuff I replaced. One word...
For Whats its worth... I pulled the trigger on the Murray carbs. Man... it woke that bike up. So much so I now had to do some extensive brake work to stop this thing. It was plug and play and the support that murray gives is very good. So from my perspective... a new anything is better...
I need the distance between the inside surface of the fork mounting holes and the disk itself. If one of you folks can help me out it would be most appreciated. I'm thinking is got to be about .50 inch space between the disk and back side (Innermost surface) where the original bracket...
Good Evening All:
This is going to be a little weird, but here it goes... I'm stuck here between a rock and a hard place. You see I'm on a ship in the middle of the ocean off the coast of South America. My 1978 750 Honda is home in Georgia. I've just purchased some Wilwood 4 piston Calipers...
One note.... the two long motor mount rods ended up being too long. Getting short ones made was too expensive. Having them re-threaded was too expensive. I cut them and reweld them.
Took some work, but it worked out well for me. Used the rear sets from dime city. The making of the mountings bracket was all the work. Getting it to like up with frame and motor mounts was a trick. But careful measurements and making carrdboard templates did the trick.
I want to dump the 42 year old disk brakes. I want to be able to stop on a dime. New brake lines helped a bit, single piston brakes are not the best tech. Any comments about switching to a better system? Not really in love with switching front ends to get better breaking and ther is still...
To be honest I rounded them off a little. But I think the bike needs the length that the rails give it. I was happy with the result. But it took several different attempts.
The backend was another learning experance. It took four times before I got something I could live with. First it was too big, then to box like, then too long. Metal... then foam, then back to metal. Finaly I ended up with what I have now. For now. This really consumed a ton of time...
