1979 CB750L the second the brushes make contact with the rotor the battery immediately drops by a few volts and continues to decline the brushes themselves start getting extremely hot to the point of smoking. This is with just the ignition on bike not even running. The coils are brand new and...
So the black and white is 1000% the positive side. I hook the negative lead of the multimeter to the black side and the positive to the color side and it gives me a negative voltage reading when reversed I get 12volts
I use the meter gauge to find out what’s hot and what’s not but the black wire with a white stripe showed a way higher voltage than the colored wire and I was sure that the positive side was where I disconnected the black and white wire originally but after gaining some newfound insight into how...
Yeah I replaced it with a 30 amp fuse but something had to be crossed somewhere cause now soon as I plug in the charging system the battery drops from 12 volts down to 9 and I noticed one of the brushes started getting so hot it was smoking. This is all with the engine off but the ignition...
I should probably pull the carb bank off and check the jets too. Thanks for the advice. Any idea why the charging system is being hit or miss? I've checked the wires they have no damage. I barely understand how to work my voltage meter I got the expensive one so I think they expect a pro
i was...
So I traded a couple jet skis to my brother in law for a 1979 CB750L he had recently gotten. He said it just needed some carb work cause they leaked but said he took it for a test run to the end of his block and back and it runs fine other than the leaking carbs. Well after rebuilding the carbs...
It's the fuse that's on the starter solenoid. It blows soon as I turn the bike on with a 10amp fuse. Didn't use to when the charging system wasn't working.
