This is what it's like with the cover off

Looks broke on the inside as I can see a rough metal edge on the left side

Ok please bear with me as I am struggling to understand the implications of this. Do I need the thing to work other not having a speedo/ tachometer? Will I have another options for a speedo like an app or digital readout? Does it effect the running of the engine if I take it off altogether?

Oh no! That's sounds painful, what's the workaround ?
