    Unpredictable idling

This baby yanks the front end up real good. Slapped her around and ran up to 6G between gears and shifted fast as I could to keep her in the power band...YOWZA!!! Lots of fun.

    Unpredictable idling

Found the main issue. Was with the Martek unit control box. Two wires right next to each other were worn and sporadically arching between themselves. Put heat shrink on wires and now runs on all 4 without issue. Now that its running "CORRECTLY" its time to revisit the carb sync. This should...

    Unpredictable idling

I have read many threads and dont seem to find what addresses the symptom. Bike is a 750 Four Super Sport with mechanical slde carbs. SOHC. First let me give you the back story. Bike hadnt run since 2009 so of course the carbs need gone through and here is my procedure:: Overnight soak in...

    Little high speed stumbles

So its been a while but i figured it out. Took the head off and checked every valve and lapped them. Only one had intake valve with what I didnt like and that was visible with my magnifying glass. Looked like a small dimple from maybe a chunk of carbon getting smashed. Replaced that valve...

    Little high speed stumbles

Got engine out and head off..only took 3 1/2 hours. So there is a lot of carbon on the valves but none look that ashen white that ive seen before on smoked valves. BUT now that its open Im gonna remove all the valves, marking each one as i remove them with a Sharpie, and take a good look at...

    Little high speed stumbles

Well whats a day to yank a head off gonna hurt me. Guess what Im doing this weekend. AMC...so the valve SEATS were burnt on ones you took apart or the edges of the valves themselves?? Kinda prepping for what I should be looking at once i take the head off.

    Little high speed stumbles

So you agree that I should get the new advancer off Ebay and see if this solves the problem? I may be way off base but it seems that as the RPMs go higher...and thus the advancer is coming into play more and more...that maybe the stumble is advancer related??? Does my 'theory' sound right??

    help evaluating carb rebuild kits

AMC49... saw this and you say you eliminate the air cutoffs. Do you think if I removed them from this 750 i have been having all the troubles with it would help any? they were new K/L ones that I put in but if they dont really have an effect on its running then why did Honda even have them...

    Little high speed stumbles

AMC..I am searching and found this old thread. I was wondering if i could bother you to call me instead of all this typing and waiting game. This seems like something i should check but not clear on how to recenter it if mines off like the one the pictures show. I will PM you my number...

    Little high speed stumbles

Update.. So i used the timing light and put it on coil 1/4 and ran it up to 7 grand ( seems to rev great in N on the lift ) and pointed it at the tank and sa that there was no interuption of signal to the light..flash solidly and steady. Same results when i switched to the 2/3 coil. So I...

    Little high speed stumbles

OK...so I finally got a weekend to get back to the bike. AMC...I had got a new valve cover gasket and got shims from the local dealership and got all 16 valves set as close to the .08 MM spec as is stated in he manual. I also did the "weak advancer spring" fix. I dont recall if it was here or...

Removal of cam journal cap bolts

Im not yet in to grabbing a hammer mode. Ive used left handed bit a lot..mostly on broke off exhaust header bolts. Seems once you drill a small pilot hole and progressively work up in sizes the remaining stud threads will eventually spin themselves out. And I am very aware of patience being...

Removal of cam journal cap bolts

Should I just go buy a 90 degree drill and some left handed drill bits and not care if i snap a bunch off...then drill out the pieces??
