I picked up a '74K model from my brother that had sat in the open in his side yard for over 20 years. No surprise that 80% of it is junk. I'm looking at a '75F model that needs work and I'm wondering if the K model tank will mount up in place of the F model tank. I prefer the look of the K model tanks.

Anyone tried this?

There is some interchangeability between the 750 tanks but don’t know about that one in particular. Swapping tanks up is easy enough though if you haven’t tried it. Will be checking back on this thread for the answer.

Thanks for the info

I ended up picking up a '78 K model that I'm very happy with so I won't have the opportunity to try the tank swap.

The F bike I was looking at sold before I could get to it but in the end the '78 is in excellent condition for it's age

I believe the fuel tanks on the 77 & 78 K models are the same as the F models.

I have a 78 K that I'm working on and I currently have the fuel tank removed. I also have a '74 K model tank that I put in place on the '78 to see how it would work.

You can see from the pics that the '74 K tank is shorter leaving a space between the tank and the seat. You would have to modify the seat to make it longer in the front to but up to the tank properly.

Also the tank petcock is on the right side on the K models up to '76 and on the left side on the 77/78 K models as well as the F models
