I am a happy owner of a 1978 Honda cb750k which is a very good motorcycle. But as time goes on we as owners want to make these older bikes more practical. After installing Ricks Motorsports 10-1000 Vreg/rec that has good opions with satisfied satisfied results. But after installing it I started to notice the unit would get abnormally hot. After checking it out it turned out I was seeing a voltage drop through the ignition system. Then I proceded to check the charging system by reading charging voltage at the battery and noticed a spike voltage read of 15.1. Some of other owners of 750s told me that the Dynatek electronic ignition normally has a 1 volt voltage drop. I am wondering what would I need to do to make this work out to having a normal charging output without having issues with heat and overcharging battery

If your reading of 15.1v is correct you are overchaging your battery, charging voltage of a 12v battery is between 13.6 and 14.2 volts, any more than that is too much, there is nothing wrong with the original voltage regulator and rectifier units as long as they are in good condition, fitting combined regulator/rectifier units can and does lead to problems.
Not quite sure about your reference to voltage drop at the Dynatec unit but that has nothing to do with your charging system, they are two separate systems.
