Vintagecb750.com $50 Gift Card Giveaway Starts Now - May, 2025

I have three 1980 CB750 Customs. The original, on the left, I bought new in 1980. The one on the right was my first custom Custom. The one below is the one I have the most fun with vintage racing. I've been riding this bike since I was 20 and I've never had more fun than I'm having now!

Those things look like they sit like an old iron head sportster I use to own(1979 model)... did you rake the front forks on them?

No. The Custom was a bit more raked than the other models, and with the split-level seat and tall front wheel it was supposed to have a bit of a cruiser look. In fact, the one on the right I pulled the tubes down an inch. On the race bike I have an 18" front wheel, instead of the stock 19", so that makes the forks look taller.

IN....

Well, it looks really cool... seems like it rides real well too, considering the photo you posted of you on the track. The reason I ended up getting rid of my sporty was bcs the thing handled like a brick. My first bike was a CX 500, it was so easy to ride and Hondas just handle so well, in the end I just wanted to get back on one. What are your thoughts on the custom? And if you don't mind, my bike is completely stock, but I've been thinking of making some minor updates. Like maybe newer shocks, and...? I'm not really sure what else that wouldn't alter the bike too much(I had been thinking of electronic ignition instead of the points and also individual breathers for the carbs instead of the stock box)

Our bikes are pretty different, I don't know how much you can compare the SOHC and the DOHC. My original bike is 99% stock and I don't have a single complaint about how it rides and handles. I wouldn't change anything. However, my intention was a stock restoration. Obviously, you can improve on 45–50-year-old technology so any upgrades are going to help.

Yes please! I just slipped in the garage while parking the bike and broke the clutch lever and need a new one! 🤣

I had ordered (Ebay) 4 valve shims @ 2. .68 mm and 4 @ 2.72mm. What arrived measured 2.76 , 2.73. Certainly NOT what i Need to accomplish a .005 Inch valve gap. I guess there are enough possibilities to get exactly what I need to avoid Too tight valve clearance, I am a patient man, I am a patient man...."Gonna sit down in the kitchen , fix me sumptin' good to eat, 'make my head a little higher, make the whole day complete, cause we gonna lay around the shanty, mama, and put a good buzz on.. Well pass it to me baby, pass it to me slow , We'll take the time to smile a bit, before we let 'er go.....gonna sit around the shanty, and put a good buzz on... IF this offends you, let me know. I will apologize. I sing it every Friday PM. Very stressful work week.

This my 71 with a k2 engine that I inherited from my dad. I’ve been working on this bike for so long that I have parts ordered from jc Whitney from over 40 years ago still on this bike.

This is his dad's K1 that he restored a few years ago.
