Hello all,
I am working on diagnosing a very weak spark on my 1980 cb750. The bike hasn't been started in probably about 3 years and even then it was only started for a short time, and I have no idea the last time it was ridden.
I cleaned up the carbs and the bike will run, actually starting up surprisingly well. But it doesnt idle the best I clearly have a misfire. Checking spark, it is there of course (it ran) but it's very weak, it's even almost hard to see with the garage light on.
It runs pretty well when held off throttle, but it does have the occasional back fire.
testing my coils, they seem to be alright as far as I can tell. what else could cause a weak spark?I did use a new plug in each boot when testing. I am unsure how to test the CDI units on the bike. I opened up the cover but it's not exactly as easy to test as a points system.
Thanks in advance
