Need a bit of advise on how to proceed CB750C.
Did compression test and from right to left
112, 112, 100, 175 psi
Squirt of oil 160, 155, 170, 175 psi
Valve clearance there are 6 that a 0.05mm feeler gauge won't fit the rest are between 0.07 to 0.11mm.
Would you adjust valves to see or is it an engine out job.

Yeah, swap shims, adjust valves. Most importantly, check the clearances with the engine in the right orientation per the Honda manual. Checking the clearances with the cam lobes straight up here does not work. I've measured both ways, they're not the same.

I do it different. I measure clearance and remove the shim and measure the shim, then I calculate the ideal shim size, I put that shim back in and do the same for all of the shims. On paper I swap the shims around and usually only need one or two shims of a different size. I get my one or two shims from the Honda dealer.............The guys in the back have a box of them, the parts guy knows nothing about these un-inventoried shims. $4 each last time.

With all of the right size shims and spares I then put them in the right places.

Yes Mrtwowheel is right on the money. That is the best way to start. Your clearances are too tight. What is the background on the bike? Has it not run in years or do you ride it regularly? Did you do the compression test with the throttle wide open?

I have just bought it as a running restoration but have been bit on the ass with it requiring more work than expected.
Yes compression was done with throttle fully open and I believe bike has been stood for some time, hoping not to get into engine out situation.
Ordered some better feeler gauges that go to. 001" to see if there is a little clearance and checking with cam lobe 180° opposite shim bucket.

You WILL NOT get an accurate measurement that way. Do you have any manual? Honda knows how they ground these cams, put the engine in the position PER THE MANUAL.

Only a Haynes manual not a Honda one, please explain correct procedure as I read on this forum the manual was wrong.
Surely with the lobe directly opposite the shim guarantees you are measuring on the base circle.
Anyone got a link to the correct procedure or to a manual download.
Thanks.

No, lobes pointing towards outside of the head. Exhaust cam lobes pointing to the front of the bike, intake cam lobes pointing towards rear of the bike.

No witness mark on end of cam either just that little dimple but doesn't seem to line up with anything
