I am helping a friend with his SOHC CB 750.
The bike is complete and when he went for a test ride, he went through the gears and when 5th gear was selected, it got stuck in 5th gear. Now the clutch works fine and he can push the bike with the clutch lever in. I suspect the chain tension or the gear arm spring or an incorrect shift fork, but he was able to go through gears 1-4 without issues. Hummmm. I think this will require taking off the cover and seeing the action, (or in-action) of the shift drum when he does a static shift. *I know both transmission shafts have to be turning to get it to switch gears properly.

So, any ideas?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Shifter dog hung up. I would get a dead blow hammer and hit the case while moving shifter arm around.

It will happen again - requires teardown.
