I just reset my valves, and before I replace my alternator cover and gasket, I would like to polish the cover. I am hoping there is some "trick" to remove the stator and brush holder from the cover. I attempted WD40, time, and resorted to a "impact driver" aka slap hammer. I had chose a screw bit that fit tight in the phillips. Will not budge. I fear that if I apply more force, I will do damage. Seems now I must either A) polish the cover while installed on the bike.-not attractive B) unhook the assembly from the harness and polish the cover with the stator attached, or C) vise grip the screws holding the stator, with a chance of breaking the screws off. scary. I guess the question sorta answers itself. B), unless you good folks have better ideas?

"Pink Floyd "so if you give 'em, a quick, short sharp shock", they won't do it again" Dig it? Us and Them. I saw Pink Floyd in '76. Milwaukee County Stadium. Thanks Kirky, for the idea, thanks also for the nostalgia.

My current favorite tee shirt in my wardrobe has a screaming skull with the DSOTM prism in the background and the words "there's someone in my head but it's not me". I also saw them in '76 (or maybe '77, who honestly remembers?) in Tempe, AZ at Sun Devil stadium.

They're not Philips heads, they are JIS. A Philips screwdriver will round out the heads.

I use a manual impact driver with JIS bits. Pretty cheap on Amazon and I had 100% success getting previously undisturbed screws moving when I took my K6 apart. Seriously recommend.

Ordered, will arrive tomorrow, thanks.
