Hello all,

I am hardtailing a 77 frame, and only have the front half of the frame. I need to get some reference measurements to start from and have been unable to find it on the net or elsewhere and do not have access or know anyone with a complete bike or frame. I would like to get a measurement from the rear lower motor mount to the rear axle (centre of both). As I have the front lower motor mount intact I can workout where the rear mount will be and then back to the axle to give me a stock location. Would be interested to see anyone who has hard tailed their bike to see your photos and if you are able to give me the measurements on your set up as above that can help give me some ideas. Any help appreciated, thanks.

At the beginning of this forum is a download for manuals, if you download the CB750 manual there is a fully dimensioned drawing of the frame I think page 152.

Hello mate thanks for the reply, yes I have down loaded those and also had found that diagram some time ago but it is the frame without the swingarm, I know that the axle to axle length should be about 1455mm, If I can find out the length of a swing arm from axle to the pivot point on the frame I could work out my measurements, as it is only having half the frame the only thing I can go off is the front lower engine mount. Perhaps someone with a bike can measure the distance from the front lower mount to the rear axle?

If your going to hard tail it you can make it any length you want? Not for sure what you are wanting it to look like but they normally ride a little better with some extra length and less tendency to wheelie.

Yes, most of the commercial ones are 2 inch stretch, however I just want some stock dimensions as a starting point to locate the rear axle in the jig then I will start trying out different stretch because the stock frame is a bit small for me
