So, I bought a 1980 CB750F new in 1980, I still have it but it sat for many years, about a year ago I decided to completely disassemble and rebuild. Frame was power coated then got distracted so now I ready to go through the engine but not really sure where to start, the cases are split, it has about 40,000 miles on it, what should I replace and I find that several parts are not available, I’ve rebuilt a few twin top ends but I’ve never gone this far into a four cylinder . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, you've had yours longer than me. I bought mine in 86 and still have it.
Does the engine need much rebuilding? 40,000 miles isn't much but I guess there is a lot of corrosion?
I would think the bottom end should be fine as well as cam chains and sprockets. For the rest, pistons, rings, camshafts, I guess it just depends on how corroded things are and whether you can polish them to decent condition.
Main thing is carbs. They would need a complete breakdown and cleaning. MacGregor has an excellent how to manual: https://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/SeanG/Honda_Carb_Manual_revG.pdf
Also, I found CMSNL has a lot of parts https://www.cmsnl.com/
Good luck!

My main concern is with the cam chain guides and primary chain guides, I don’t know if anyone has ever had an issue with them as far as coming apart meaning the metal and nylon or whatever it is.
