hey everyone (new to this community, first post). Have a ‘80, new Murray’s carbs just installed with new throttle tube and cables. Bike runs well so far (needs to start with both chokes in “on” position… then “off” after warm-up).
Issue is- RPMs want to stay around 3-4k when idling. It’s loud as hell at red lights. The only way I can “drop” them back to 1-2k is by slightly engaging the kill-switch (not all the way). It’ll hang out there for a while until I put it back in gear and throttle up again….. back to 3-4k.
I checked for leaks, none. I looked at a lot of previous posts, but to no avail. Maybe cables need to be lubed? I really have no idea.

Thanks man. I found the problem. The new throttle tube seemed to cause the cable to stick. It was grinding somewhere in/near the housing. I had to grind down some of the plastic more a more smoother roll.
