1982 Custom. Fairing is gone. It was trash.
I have signals and a single headlight bucket to install, replacing those things that were in the fairing.
I am looking for help with what to do with all this wiring. I have removed the black box from the frame that held all those molex plugs. Seems I dont need any of them to be plugged in. Or maybe I do.
I can and have the side mounts for the turn signals. No problem. I think the headlight bucket is 7".
I am positive someone on here has removed fairing from a custom and ran it without and added what they needed. Anyone have pictures(close-ups) of what they did. And maybe some sort of explanation.
Please help.
The only thing left to do is balance the carbs and the engine should run.
I bought the bike last spring(2025). Drove it home. Messed with the carbs because it sounded horrible. And now I wish I would not have done that. I replaced both sets if carb boots and air boots. And engine made horrible sound with clutch out. Pull in clutch and the noise goes away. I can look into that later. All I need help with now is what to do with the wiring. Should I reinstall the black box differently so that I can still mount a headlight bucket? I have ideas but they all seem stupid.

In headlight bucket, there should be a black plastic piece/housing to hold all the Molex connectors. That black plastic housing is held inside the bucket with 2 screws. So, the thick wire loom coming from the frame goes straight in to the headlight bucket from the bottom opening, and the Molex connectors at the tip of that big wire loom are then held by that black plastic housing that I mentioned above.

All other wires that come from the handlebar left/right switches, fuse box, ignition key, instrument cluster, turn signals, etc. also go in the headlight bucket and the connectors are mated together. Mated connectors are held securely in that black plastic housing. Hope this helps in case you haven't figured it out yet.
