This is the worst set of a job lot of three sets of carbs that I've just acquired.
The photo really doesn't do justice to the state of awful filthiness that they're in.
Decades of road dirt, oil, and putrid petrol.
I'd really like to get hold of an ultrasonic cleaner that will really do the business on them.
I had an ultrasonic years ago, the finest quality that Aldi could provide - it was next to absolutely useless, I could do the job better with a bowl of paraffin and a toothbrush.
I'd like to find something that actually works well.

I did a bit of online research and I noticed there are a number of highly recommended brands.

I ended up purchasing a Creworks brand from Amazon for a set of carbs off of a '78K model I bought. The cleaner worked really well. I assume that brand is available for England

I've got Creworks down as my first choice too !
I'm just wondering which size and quality level to go for.
Tempted to buy a large professional quality unit that will last for the remains of my life, rather than buying a small cheap unit and regretting it later.

I fancy one, but not yet pulled the trigger. If I did, I would go for a larger one, as you can boil the water in a kettle first, to reduce prep time. Also, although they should be run nearly full (up to their marker level), to avoid premature wear on the ultrasonic bits, it's possible to load in a large object, like a plastic water container filled with water, to reduce the amount of cleaner.

On carbs, I understand it's still necessary to blow the carb body's passages through with compressed air and poke out any resistant crud from jets / emulsion tubes. That's what put me off so far, as I do that with carb cleaner and it seems to get them clean.

I like Creworks analog controls, 15 liter is in the Cart. Now , the chemical cleaner, quite pricey. I would hate to buy gallons of the stuff. This is where someone with experience would supply a recipe to make a home brew cleaner for the ultrasonic.
