I recently bought a 92 nighthawk 750. After replacing starter relay and cleaning the carbs it runs good but I’ve noticed a clunking sound that seems to be coming from the chain area or rear wheel. It only makes the sound when moving and increases and decreases in speed as the bike does the same. Haven’t been able to pinpoint the origin of noise. Also noticed this morning that the rear tire has been rubbing inner fender on the right side. Made sure chain was tight so not sure what’s causing it. Don’t think the 2 issues are related but not sure. Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Check to make sure that the wheel spacers are on the correct side. Also the dampers inside the hub could be bad or bad wheel bearings causing the noise. Have you lifted up the rear and checked for play in the hub or bearings? Is the chain running true?

I haven’t yet but I took off from work today to see what I can figure out. I did notice that it has a 15 in wheel and I had read that they came with 17s on the 92. Did somebody go to smaller wheel or did they come with 15s? I’m about to go out and start taking the rear apart I’ll get pics and post what I find
