Hi all, is it possible / recommended to re chrome engine covers that have been sandblasted? The image below shows the parts.

I’m working on a new build and the previous owner has had the chrome covers completed stripped.

If so, is this a job that can be done in the home workshop or does it need a professional plater?

Thanks,

Andrew

Not too sure those were ever chromed... almost positive not even from the factory. But to get something like that chromed would take more than a garage setup. Lots and lots of polishing prior to plating. Hard to find chrome plating anymore... Very few places in the U.S. that haven't been closed down due to environmental regulations.

Ahh, maybe it’s just shiny not chrome then!!

I’ll start polishing and see how it goes.
