I have an 81 cb750k dohc. There is a small black box under my battery cage. Two tubes are running from it, one on each side. One tube has completely come off and another seems to be connected to nothing. What is this boxes purpose? The bike still runs fine

Reservoir for reduced down pollution crap like oil remainders coming down the breather hose. The short hose originally gets plugged to drain box when needed like very humid conditions. Longer hose ran to high back of stock airbox. Top front of airbox ran to a 'tee' that then split into two lines going down to crankcases on both sides.
What on these takes the place of a PCV system. Vapors run up the two case hoses high to let some of the oil drainback into cases then tee together to go to top of airbox to then have vapors suck off inside above the carbs, remainder fluids then drain down to tank under battery to be drained off when needed.
