Hi,

New from France, I have a CB750 KZ 1981 on the bench. Been up to now working on brakes and carbs, taking my time, the forum really helped on these jobs so thank you. I am now puzzled by my rear wheel, after removing the rear fender it appears to me that the rear wheel is not aligned with the center of the frame but I cannot explain how it could be since the chain alignment seems ok ... I do not have much history over the bike, doesn't seem to have a bent frame or something else. Any thoughts ?

Here is a pic of my KZ 1979, when I was building it. You can kind of see the same shift to the right. If I remember correctly, the space between right shock and tire is smaller than the left. Hope this helps!

Looks to me like both bikes are "bent" Look at the chain alignment on the white bike and the blue bikes looks to have a bent tube in the rear section.
I might pull the seat off of my CB and see what it looks like.

I do not know, does have any mark from some accident and it is way off ... photos are not the best things but clearly the suspension are not at the same distance from the wheel - right is closer

I think the chain alignment looks off because of the camera, haven´t noticed anything while building. On closer inspection the blue bike looks a little bit wonky, but could it be the loose tank fooling the eye?

Here another pic of the blue one, without the tank and with a line following the frame from the front to the rear. Looks straight but the wheel is off. This time the bike is not on its center stand. Do not know what to make of this. Mark a cca 5 mm off to the center of the wheel. From what do you tell that the frame is bent, photos do not help for sure.

It appeared to be sitting high at the right rear. That level doesn't really prove anything but your pictures might make it look worse than it is. Put another level across the bottom frame rails and see what it looks like.

The spacers are not separate parts, they are a part of the frame. So they cant be of the wrong size or switched around. But Loose Chain is right, it does look high on the right.

That's correct, shock are not mounted symetrically by design.
so back to my blue bike with news :D

I was checking the alignment between front and rear wheel when I noticed that both wheel are flat , like flat flat....
So I inflate both of them and voilà :

Alignement is back Spot on in the middle ...

So when on center stand , it if off
when it off the centre stand, it is back

I shall ad that right shock is pumping as welll, like an old bicycle pump

Shall I say it comes from them ?

Anyway, I guess I can go on and try to ride it .... at least carefully ....

Good lord, like I have said many times another lesson for posting in this group know how the vehicle is meant to operate and start with the basics.
