Hey folks. I have just rebuilt the top end of the engine which included engine removal, flipping it over to remove the oil pan and reassembly. Although I didn't rebuild the oil pump when I flipped the engine some oil came out in the vicinity of the oil pump so I fear that oil that was in the pump may have drained out

Qn. Before I fill the engine with oil, will I need to remove the oil pump to prime it or will it self prime?

Thanks

I saw your other thread on this but just in case anybody else needs this advice: DOHC oil pumps typically self-prime, but as long as you reassembled all the parts with oil or assembly grease it will not hurt to turn the engine over a few times with the ignition off. Then when you start it up the pump will already be filled with oil.
