Plug Fowling and Other Photos

Evening Friends,

Ill state briefly that the current issue im having is cranking not starting. Last time it ran was about 2 months ago....Bike has been sitting with gas in carbs since then...

In my mission to get this bike starting reliably and running, I've been chasing my tail. Moments ago, I discovered the brand new sparkplugs i put in around mid summertime 2022, now look all funky. I only pulled #1 and #4....

What does this tell me, and what should the next action be? Do you guys think these are bad? Normal?

How long did you run that bike with the new plugs in it? One is slightly fouled the other doesn't look too bad a little lean but that's not too abnormal for that bike...compression check?

ive had the bike in my possession since summer of 2022. Got it running and started it a total of maybe 10-12 times. Rode it around the neighborhood 5 or 6 times. Since around late august, bike hasent started since. I didnt try to start it until a couple weeks ago. Havent been able to get it started again. I have yet to do a compression check but thats probably my next move. Im now worried about the gas just sitting in it.

Sat for 2 months with gasohol in the carbs?

That's almost certainly your problem. Only proper way to fix it is to open up your carbs and clean them out.

I got away with putting Seafoam in the tank once, with a previous bike, after it sat for 9 weeks. It started up and didn't run great but I kept riding it and eventually it cleared itself up. This one not starting at all means you really have to drop the bowls and clean them out. I'd bet money the pilot jets are clogged.

Yep if it's sat for a amount of time doesn't take long for that gas to turn into peanut butter, it's not a difficult task just take your time and do one at a time, if you have an old hair dryer use it to warm up your boots it will make things a lot easier, if you take the airbox out make sure you put it in first or you'll never get it back in, put your throttle cables on and choke before you put it in, and keep carburetor cleaner(gumout)away from all rubber like gaskets or you'll be buying new ones good luck hit me up if you have any problems

I'm sure you're right about that. Im going to do that this weekend. But theres still the problem of the hard starting. Even when it was starting I had to crank so much it would drain the battery. Even after I put in a new battery. Its a friggin rabbit hole

You might be surprised..it might just pop off with clean carbs,clean fuel and plugs.
