Hey all, doing a rebuild on the engine for my 1981 CB750. Finally split the case and found a small piece broken off right above where the oil filter screws in.

My question is if this is fixable? Able to be welded or repaired in any way? Want to know before I continue along with any further repairs.

Thanks in advance for any response and help.

What is on the other side, is it mating surface or just casting!?
I think that could be repaired by capable welder BUT it may be a bitch because aluminium by itself is extremely full of impurities and it is very porous. It will not help all the oil that was in there for decades... it will take a lot of heating to bring oil out than degrease, rinse and repeat!

Just casting, here's a picture of the piece back in place. The engine and bike were pretty well maintained until the owner before me, I'll begin the decreasing process while looking for a welder.

Sounds good, use aceton for degreasing.
Heat case in oven, take out let it cool than if possible submerg in aceton for half hour, repeat couple times. PLEASE BE SMART, ACETON IS VERY FLAMABLE!!!
