Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

And the neutral switch light strikes again ! Ever since I replaced the switch , it has dripped a bit of oil , so had a look at the o-ring and it was knacked . Could well be the original as it has just turned brittle and is crumbling . So new one in and hopefully no drips . And I put on the dyna-s igniton with a new points cover . I have had the ignition for sometime and wanted to wait till I had put some miles on the bike to get my monies worth out of the points and condensors I had in it . Set up was very easy , just a few new connectors , the supplied stuff is crap . My old points cover looks to have kissed the bitumen at some time , I have removed most of the damage , but it has some large gouges in it , so new one it is . A new original is 500 aussie dollaroos down under so I went for the much cheaper SOHC ( one fifth the price )

Been fighting a dead bog off idle , seemed to get better the more mixture screw I gave it , ended up with 3.5 turns out but never really was good . Once out of the pilot circuit/needle jet it was fine , but everytime you hit the throttle it just died . So bit the bullet and got some 40 pilot jets and fitted them today . As usual it is absolutely flogging down with rain and we are even expecting a possible cyclone . Wont be riding anytime soon . Was told on another forum to check the breathers on the carbs , didnt even realise it had them , doh ! 2 were blocked , so I got them cleaned out and gave the whole rack a good bast with air and carb cleaner

Going to call 40 pilot jets for the win ! Fired right up as per usual and instantly was able to rev . So the $64 000 question is " Was it the blocked breathers or too small a pilot ? " Time will tell , but way too wet to ride , so now we wait . One thing I did notice when reassembling the bike , yet again , was this dingus is meant to fit into the front , top of the airbox . F and K`s with the peediddies have a notch in top of the airbox to fit . Mine dont fit too well and actually touches , So it might be time to crack out the heat gun for a bit of plastic melt . Or are there two different types of airbox boot/bellmouth and I have the roundtop one ?

amazing restoration, looks great! I'm actually working on the same bike/color now, but going the custom rout.

The boot between the air box and carb is different F1 to F2 not a huge difference but when you put them side by side it’s obvious.
Checked them and they are 405`s , so mine might be warped from heat and old age . Will investigate further when I pull the carbs again , hopefully that will be in a while . Not even going to try and ride at the moment as I cannot walk through my yard without sinking . My shed is towards the back of my house and its nothing but clay between it and the front fence . The bike would just cut up my yard , so we wait
