Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Much happier now with the routing of the front brake line . When I put in the new master kit , I swapped the hose around , so now the 3 way joiner on the bottom triple tree has all of the bends and the master and the calipers have the straights . One thing I am not happy with , is how quick these brand new pipes rusted . The only runtime I have done is what is on the youtube videos and they badly discoloured and now have rust on them . I have had thin walled stainless pipes before and non of them rusted . So not to impressed with delkevics

right about there . The bike has only run for ten to fifteen minutes , now you can feel and see rust on the header pipes

One step forward and two back . Got it all done and tuned , but everytime I turn on the fuel a different carb will overflow . The old couple of taps with a screwdriver fixed it , for the first 3 times , then it wouldnt . Plus the accelerator pump seemed to stop working , it would stumble off idle on the throttle . Sure enough , the passageways for 1 and 2 pumps were blocked . And seems like there was some very fine dust/rust in the fuel bowl . Filter time !

Although I am very happy with the paint job . The painter wet sanded the tank , masked it , then painted it . I called them to see how it was going and was told , " Oh that was done three weeks ago " . It was left masked up and still with water in it . So thanks to them it looks like I am going to have rust problems , when they were given a totally rust free clean tank . FFS ! Got her soaking in evaporust for now , then we will see how she goes

Well, THAT's frustrating. If the evaporust result is questionable, I'd seal the tank. I used POR 15 fuel tank sealer (and their recommended process) on my '53 chevy pickup with great success. My tank was a horribly rusty mess; sealed it in 2017 and it's still perfect. Good luck.... fun project you've got here.... thanks for posting it!

Vinegar for the win ! Got told to try it , so after a nut and bolt scrub with a small bit of evaporust ( it costs $25 per litre in OZ ) I soaked the tank for 4 days in vinegar and got most of what rust I can see . I have rinsed it out and it is now sitting with some two stroke till I sort out something else . Happened to see that when you measure the float level , it usually sits level with the gasket surface , and sure enough the manual shows this . In the pic , I am at 14.5mm if you measure in line with the main jet . If I put the float level with the gasket surface , it is 12.5mm . As you can see I have PD41B`s so they should be 14.5mm . Do I have the wrong floats ( for the K7-8 maybe ) or am I just lucky ?

So figured out I do indeed have the wrong floats . If I set them as in the manual , I get 12.5 mm , so K7-8 . Some research later shows the 77 F2 uses a 16013-393-004 float and the K7-8 , 78 F2-3 use 1603-405-004 . Bit of looking around on eaglebay and $89.00 ea , so $356.00 for a set of floats . Then I notice old mate in taiwan has them for $32.00 for the lot . What can go wrong , right ? They came today . Please explain to me how you can advertise to sell one thing , then send another , and not realise/notice/care ! Think I will just see the level using the clear pipe method and go from there

It's shocking how much work we have to go thru just to get sellers to do their job correctly!....The amount of parts I have to "take/send back" these days is staggering and exhausting! Never-the-less, glad you got the correct floats , and got the right price as well! Great persistence, bro!!!

I've had 2 instances recently from different suppliers, incorrect part number hand written on the back of the packet meant I received a front kit instead of a rear master cylinder kit then the latest one was ordered a pair of NOS clamp bands for the coil attachment to the top frame tube and received two Band A instead of an A and B, just received the correct items from Germany but cost double because of the shipping and tax! anybody looking for Band A as I have 2 spare now!! 30151-300-000.

They are not the right set and I am in the process of getting them returned , but no reply from the seller yet . What a surprise

Yeah mate I have experienced the same over the last 2 years of restoring this bike , it can be so frustrating , but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now . Just a couple more steps to go

I've managed to find some pictures of F1 frames showing the bottom cross tube and the centre stand brackets in detail and they appear to be symetrical so will go with that and hope for the best!! Also found that the frame has doublers welded on where the brackets meet the frame, explains the line of weld on either side of the tube, hoping the 6mm bore steel tube will come tomorrow so I can get on with this little job.

I would also dummy fit the swingarm and rear wheel on and check your fitment , so the centerstand doesnt rub on the wheel and the stopper works .

A couple of litres of vinegar ( 20 ) , 1 cup of baking soda and lots of rinsing later . Got her soaking in an oily two stroke mix for now untill I go for rego hopefully next week . It now depends on when people finish their xmas hols

Suppose I have to expect it . Put the bike in gear and the neutral light stayed on , tested and continuity out of and in gear . Will have to do some fiddling as my high beam light has gone very dull aswell , can barely see it now . Got to love teething problems , eh ? Wow aren`t neutral switches cheap ? Bought one for my model , in oz and got sent this . I am getting very tired of being sent the wrong parts
