Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Much happier now with the routing of the front brake line . When I put in the new master kit , I swapped the hose around , so now the 3 way joiner on the bottom triple tree has all of the bends and the master and the calipers have the straights . One thing I am not happy with , is how quick these brand new pipes rusted . The only runtime I have done is what is on the youtube videos and they badly discoloured and now have rust on them . I have had thin walled stainless pipes before and non of them rusted . So not to impressed with delkevics

right about there . The bike has only run for ten to fifteen minutes , now you can feel and see rust on the header pipes

One step forward and two back . Got it all done and tuned , but everytime I turn on the fuel a different carb will overflow . The old couple of taps with a screwdriver fixed it , for the first 3 times , then it wouldnt . Plus the accelerator pump seemed to stop working , it would stumble off idle on the throttle . Sure enough , the passageways for 1 and 2 pumps were blocked . And seems like there was some very fine dust/rust in the fuel bowl . Filter time !

Although I am very happy with the paint job . The painter wet sanded the tank , masked it , then painted it . I called them to see how it was going and was told , " Oh that was done three weeks ago " . It was left masked up and still with water in it . So thanks to them it looks like I am going to have rust problems , when they were given a totally rust free clean tank . FFS ! Got her soaking in evaporust for now , then we will see how she goes

Well, THAT's frustrating. If the evaporust result is questionable, I'd seal the tank. I used POR 15 fuel tank sealer (and their recommended process) on my '53 chevy pickup with great success. My tank was a horribly rusty mess; sealed it in 2017 and it's still perfect. Good luck.... fun project you've got here.... thanks for posting it!

Vinegar for the win ! Got told to try it , so after a nut and bolt scrub with a small bit of evaporust ( it costs $25 per litre in OZ ) I soaked the tank for 4 days in vinegar and got most of what rust I can see . I have rinsed it out and it is now sitting with some two stroke till I sort out something else . Happened to see that when you measure the float level , it usually sits level with the gasket surface , and sure enough the manual shows this . In the pic , I am at 14.5mm if you measure in line with the main jet . If I put the float level with the gasket surface , it is 12.5mm . As you can see I have PD41B`s so they should be 14.5mm . Do I have the wrong floats ( for the K7-8 maybe ) or am I just lucky ?
