Thanks for this post, I feel ya pain. I know there 2 schools of thought on how to fix this issue. 1, the shotgun approach where I replace parts until its running. 2,the surgical approach where I test components and replace or repair systematically. Without checking valve clearance I cant be sure of an accurate compression test for example. I replaced my transistorized style factory ignition with a Dyna 2000 and it ran great for a while, and now its down again. Im to the point where I have to start getting intentional and checking each component. I could speculate about your issue sir and try to sound like I know something but the honest answer is I do not know. Start with ground for coils, on my dohc cb750 its to the fram on the coil mounting bracket. Then the negative battery terminal ground. It goes to an engine mounting bolt to the frame. Then test the power wires for continuity and proper voltage. See each coil is putting out proper,as per the manual, and yes, the dreaded pulse generators ,the plate that sits over top the mechanical spart advancer( on a factory tdi ignition) could also be the culprit. Or something I haven't even thought of. Diligent wire testing and chasing is the only way we will know for sure. It sucks, but in my case im tired of throwing money at it. I want to KNOW WHY whats going on is going on. Best of luck and big blessings on you and your quest, man.
