New project CB750F1

Dont pity you with the wiring mate , mine was bad enough and took awhile when all of the plugs rotted and I changed a few things . Fun times . How come you got your handlebars rechromed ? Surely a new set would cost less

New ones all Chinese and re chrome was more or less same price so that’s why. Same with the mudguard same price re chrome or Chinese and I know this guy does excellent work had some done a few years ago and they’re still like new.

Had a better day today, solved a couple of issues with the loom, one of my making and another from the PO some strange wiring to the clutch lever switch maybe trying to by pass a failed neutral switch I don't know but it's right now and mine was a break I created in the black ignition switched live left the 2 ends of the loom disconnected from each other, after a bit of keyhole surgery to the loom got them sorted.
Found 2 errors on the wiring diagram I'm using, the fuses are incorrectly labelled and the horn has 2 positives feeding it created a bit of head scratching until I figured it out!
Swapped back to my original carbs after they'd been stripped and ultrasonically cleaned with all new gaskets and o rings but kept the original jets.
Meant to add that the difference between the F1 forks and the K7/K8 legs is 20mm the K7K8 being the longer ones so the lean on the side stand is a little less now, the fork bottoms are the same though.

Meant to say I fitted the front indicators last thing before I packed up and when switch left or right both repeaters come on but nothing on the indicators themselves, could this be because I dont have the rear indicators fitted yet or have I got another problem, was going to wire in 2 temporary rear bulbs to test again.

Loki

Further update with electrics, after adding 2 temporary rear indicators they worked left and right but only the rear ones and they didn't flash, I could hear the relay click once when powered up but no flash so I fitted a spare relay I had bought with a view to going led and now I have rear flashing but only a very faint flash at the front, the repeaters are flashing fine.
Checked the brake lights and circuit wise they work, I pulled the rear brake light switch and brake light works but can't check the front brake light switch until the hydraulics are finished and my handlebars are back so I have something to hang the controls off.

Loki

When I did mine , no matter what pin flasher unit I used , I could either get nothing or flashing like hazard lights . Found out my wiring had faded colour that much that my regulator and flasher wiring looked the same . After finding out that I found that they would only work with the 2 pin flasher with the black and green wires

My earth came into the headlight with a 4 way connector then from there to the various points in the headlight needing earths but still had to make a couple of splitters to get earths to all the required points!

Got stuck into the dents in my tank today, tried a glue puller kit a few weeks back but the glue wasn't strong enough to pull them out so had to resort to my stud welder and slide hammer, worked a treat, finished off with a bit of lead loading, bit of sanding and it'll be ready for the epoxy primer then off to my mate to work his magic with the paint.

Loki

So bit of an update, tank is now in primer ready for paint, decided to have a crack at painting it myself as my accountant is grumbling at my expenditure, first time painting candy so fingers crossed it goes OK.
Chroming is coming back on Monday so getting excited now as a bit of bling always lifts the look somewhat!
Put in what I'm hoping is my last DS order for the last bits and bobs like mirrors and random clips and things.
Will put up some pictures soon.

I nearly fell into that trap too, took a good clean to make out the dirrerent colours.

They couldn't quite get all the pitting out of the points cover but you have to draw the line somewhere! I'm sure I have some before photos somewhere so you can see how they were to start with, can't get over the front mudguard and the handlebars, better than original I'd say? and certainly better than any of the Chinese knock offs, this kind of quality doesn't come cheap but you only get what you pay for.
Big thumbs up to Alan Olner and his staff of craftsmen at Marque Restore Chroming in Coventry CV2 2LE.

Made a start refitting my freshly chromed parts today, I've ordered some new screws for the mudguard so once they arrive that will complete the job, next job is paint the tank and seat hump and I'll be nearly done.

I don`t know whats worse , your pitting or my mashed up points cover . I suppose you have to get within 5 feet to notice mine . Have you seen the price of a new one ? Unfortunately or fortunately for their sake , I have no children to sell so I can afford one

All the replacement points covers I've found have SOHC on them instead of HONDA as the originals do. I imagine any NOS ones are going to be like unicorn poo at this time.

Loki

You can buy them still , brand new 245 of your pounds . I can get the SOHC , which I quite like , for 74 of your pounds . Or there are plain ones with no logo for 24 pound . Like I said " I have no child to sell "
