Man oh man, it's been a long time since I posted here. I bought my 82 cb750k last year around April and spent around $2000 getting it where I wanted and rode 5,000 miles last year up until November when it got cold.

Just before I put the bike to sleep for the cold Denver winter, I noticed I needed to put a quart of oil in it about every month and when i drained the oil it had gas in it. Super "rainbow-y".

A squeek has also developed around cylinder #1s valve train and carb. It sound like a mix between a squeek and a scrape. If I haven't riden the bike on over a week, it takes about 10 minutes of constant cranking and playing with the throttle to get it started. Seems as though it needs to get a lot of gas out of the cylinders to get good ignition of the fuel air mixture.

When I'm riding down the rode and I'm on the throttle to maintain a specific RPM, the exhaust note sounds slightly broken up. Kind of muddy. But as soon as i give it any sort of incremental increase or decrease in throttle, the sound instantly clears up. I don't feel a noticeable degradation on power however.

Anyways, do you guys think that rebuilding my carbs will solve the issue? Could there be something inside one of the carbs that's creating that scrape/ squeek noise? I don't know much about carburetors. I know quite a bit about fuel injected engines and I've been a mechanic for over 15 years (licensed aircraft mechanic and built big turbo drift cars for 5). Pulling my motorcycle apart is a bit of a challenge due to the fact that I kive downtown in an apartment building with an underground garage where my bike is parked, and I'm not supposed to be doing major maintenance in my parking spot, so anything I do either has to be done in a single day, or I have to make the bike look "presentable" while doing maintenance.

Any help is appreciated and I hope yall don't smoke the fuck outta me for asking such basic questions.

Do you still have that large vacuum valve connected to the top of the carbs, if so you should eliminate it, it's probably starting to fail and will only get worse. Besides that you should be turning the petcock off when the bike is sitting for minutes, hours or months.

Very important to use a plug at the vacuum port after removing the vacuum valve.
