I'm undecided about how far I want to go in making my CB750K1 as original as possible.
At present I've gone as far as the correct painted type headlamp brackets, but my top yoke and instruments are from a K4.
Finding a correct "Rhino Horn" yoke and a decent set of K1 instruments looks like setting me back around £500, maybe more.
I strongly suspect that the commonality of these parts with the original '69 type bikes is pushing the prices upwards, as collectors are prepared to shell out big bucks to restore their "investment grade" bikes.
However I may have found a Rhino Horn yoke and a pair of ratty K2 clocks for a much more reasonable sort of price.
I'm thinking that maybe I could rebuild the clocks with replica K1 faces and modify the instruments internally for the relevant bulb holders for the K1 warning lights.
I'm not above a bit of jiggery pokery and improvised modifications, as long as they can't be seen when everything is assembled.
Are there any radical differences in the internals of the K2 instruments that will stop me from doing this ?
The speedo trip reel and reset knob would seem to be in the same place, so I'm sort of hopeful that my idea is viable.
