Six months into my first project and I'm loving it! 1978K strip down and re-build. Frame re-coated and wheels completely re-furbished. Started engine strip down with the aid Hackaweek YouTube clips which have been a god send:) Valve head completely gunk up and a couple of piston rings ceased but overall I'm pleased with engine condition. Nice surprise finding the previous owners details in the compartment under the seat and will try and make contact with him to get some history of the bike.

Well done. Are you going inside the cases? I didn't need to on mine. I'd been running it for 1,000 miles, to find out if I liked it and what was wrong. The problems were all in the head and glazed bores. But, I probably wish I had gone deeper now. Just to know I'd never need to take the engine out again!

Let's have lots of photos and updates :)

I've stripped it right down to have all casing vapour blasted and was planning to replace the crank shells but they feel fine and i cant see any wear on the crank so thinking of leaving them alone. Clock shows 16k miles so not over worked I guess.
