All the sudden my 1981 cb750 forks have started leaking from the bottom near the axle. I replaced the small crush washers, filled with fluid and aired up. While sitting for a couple days I noticed a puddle of fork oil on both sides of the front wheel. It is certainly leaking from the base. Any suggestions as to why this would happen and how to resolve the issue.

Thank you for any help

The only place down at the bottom of the forks would be the drain bolt and copper gasket. Are you using quality parts? Other than that maybe just double check that it isn't brake fluid.

There is a bolt that holds the damper rod in the forks at the bottom of the fork leg with a copper washer to seal. You will need to remove the front wheel and axel to check if that's where it's leaking.

I replaced the crush washers a week ago and it still continues. It is definitely leaking fork oil and not from the upper seals. I have designed a couple TPU plugs to put between the bolt and axle. I figure this will plug any chance for them to leak in the future and allow me to air them back up.

Thank you for your suggestions and I'll let you know if my plugs remedy the situation.
