I made a tactical error today.
I picked up my CB750F1 project bike and paid for it.
Never actually set eyes on it before, only seen photos.
I knew there was a loose set of carbs with it, but to my horror they turned out to be off a K7, with the fully enclosed lifters.
To be fair to the vendor, they were there in the photos of the bike, but only the bowls were visible.
So I assumed they were the correct F1 type carbs.
And as the proverb goes, assumption is the mother of all **** ups.
Will these work with the F1 engine ?
They're seized up into the bargain.
I'm just wondering if there's any point in putting any money into these carbs.
Or should I just start saving my pennies towards the correct items ?

I have a post running with my F1 restoration journey, you will discover that there are a number of parts for this model which are unique, rear brake and fork stanchions are 2 that come to mind but there are others, fortunately carbs are not so which means they are quite common on online sales sites, if you're handy with the spanners they're not difficult to overhaul, I bought a set for about £85 which were all gummed up with old fuel, acetone is a good solvent for this then treat yourself to an ultrasonic cleaner, you won't regret it!

Many thanks !
I've managed to free off the K7 carbs, if that indeed is what they are.
There's no accelerator pump on them, I'm not sure if there should be, or if someone has built up a "Frankenstein" set from spare bits.
In any case, I've decided against using them on my project build.
I've got no connector rubbers to the head for a start, and apparently they differ from the earlier F1 sort.
I've got the heads up on a couple of sets of the F1 type Keihins, although they might well turn out to be off a K2 or whatever.
Dealers seem to be asking stupid money for these carbs now, but from experience I expect to pick up a set privately for much less, just as you did.
Today I've just acquired Honda parts catalogues for the F1 and F2 models.
Now it's occurring to me that I need parts lists for the earlier K series models too.
Yet more expense.

I found an F1 parts list online for free, as far as I know the carbs you need are '71-'76 but don't take my word for it just what I found when looking on tinternet. There is a Honda shop manual to download on this forum which I've used a lot.

I've got severe Luddite tendencies when it comes to parts lists and manuals.
I'd rather spend a few pounds on the originals even though downloading for free obviously makes more sense.
I won't buy a reprint if I can get an original instead, even if the cover is taped on and it's covered in oily fingerprints.
In fact the grubby marks and fingerprints usually tell a tale of there own.
Easy to spot the trouble areas just from the density of the dirty marks
