I have always liked my SOHC Honda’s, but after 50 years of riding arthritis in my left hand convinced me I now needed a semi automatic. So now my Honda is a 1976 Japanese market CB 750 A Hondamatic which I’m over the moon with.
It has a lot of differences to the USA machine
for example the US side panels have a badge which says 750. The Japanese side panel has Japanese script but I’m told it is not 750 in Japanese . Can anyone tell me what it does say please ?. For context all the stickers on the bike are in Japanese script.
Some other differences of note are the wheels on the Japanese bike are alloy with spokes unlike the USA spec composite wheels, the colour scheme is mudguards, tank and side panels in metallic green with gold pinstripes and a four into two chrome exhaust.
The speedometer is in KPH and it is fitted with a red gem that illuminates at speeds above the Japanese national maximum around 70 mph ( which is handy on the UK speed camera festooned roads) and a warning buzzer on the direction indicators or if the “ Hand Brake” is applied. I really like the smooth ride of the 750A but would love to know what the script says on the side panels.
