Ignition Timing 1980 Honda CB750F

Can somebody give me some insight on how to adjust/set the timing for my 1980 Honda CB750F? I’ve got it close to firing but it doesn’t quite fire. I’ve had several people tell to check the timing first before changing out the ignition coils and other system components

Hi Nwalker300,
There's two ways of checkin ignition timing, the dynamic way, and static way.
Static way gets you close to correct timing, and you 'should' be able to start when set like this, if everything else is ok (valve clearance set, carbs at least bench synced and good spark & fresh fuel), but dynamic way is much more accurate. However, you need to have engine running, to adjust the dynamic way, so..

I've done both ways on my '81s, static timing always agrees with dynamic timing.
