How to change oil correctly

Drain the engine oil pan and the oil tank. Change out the filter element in the housing on the front of the motor. Add the oil to the tank. Start up check for leaks. Go riding.

When you take the oil filter off the filter bolt, look closely for the washer that goes between the spring and filter... it often sticks to the filter and gets tossed out with the filter. I'm sure there are lots of bikes missing that washer, but if it's still there, might as well use it.

Hey Caleb, to make my life easier, I always convert my bikes to a Randak spin on car filter, they make oil changes very quick easy and clean...I change my oil about every 1500 miles just because it's fast and easy....
