I need the help of the forum. I own a 1993 Honda Nighthawk. It is dripping some kind of gunk on my rear tire. It is amber in color and sticks powerfully. I have cleaned it out a couple of times. Based on the drip marks, the fluid seems to be dripping from under the seat. I have checked the fluid levels, the back brakes, under the seat, and I cannot identify the source of the gunk. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them. The leak does not seem to affect the performance of the bike at all, and the source does not seem to be the road as it appears to cascade from the top. Thank you.

Dont have your model...but my immediate thought would be some kind of breather tube/drain tube ....if it drips while parked post a pic, or catch some of the fluid if you can....

I have the same year & model bike. I think mostly it’s from air filter breather tube broke off, at the box on the bottom look up there and you’ll see it. A black rubber tube should sticking down vertical next to rear tire. Should expel to the road not to the tire. This is a safety issue I would fix it right away!

Thank you for the prompt replies. the gunk is evident above the tire well, in a compartment under the seat which has only the electrical harness running through it. all of the electrical cables are covered in black electrical tape which looks worn and sticky. I am wondering whether the problem is as simple as glue from the old tape which is disintegrating and dripping. Are your harnesses covered in black electrical tape? I live in South Florida where the heat might just melt that tape!

Here’s a picture of my motorcycle air breather where the hose is located. maybe you can get a better idea where to find it or was missing?
