Hey all! My dad is passing down his 1978 CB750K to me. Years ago it fell over, and there is now a hairline crack in the alternator cover. The crack is not even visible on the outside. This crack leaks maybe 4 drops of oil a day.

As I understand, this cover is aluminum and can’t be welded.

Any recommended product or solutions to to seal this hairline crack for the long term?

Picture of the cover: https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/11631-300-040?ref=76781d598f4f2e065978b2d097b6953b44f24e0c

Thanks!

I've tried aluminum brazing but didn't have any luck with it.
If the back isn't visible from the outside, I'm assuming it leaks from the bottom because the cover is deformed. If that is the case, it's best to replace it

Thank you Brett! Thats a great callout and a slid thing to check. I will look into that! Any recommendations on where to find affordable parts whether online or locally? Looking online and I see very highly marked up covers on sites like ebay.

I've seen them in cb750supply, vintagecb750 (I think that's the name), and maybe 4-into-1 (but I could be wrong).
Sometimes the ones on ebay, though scratched up, can be polished and the scratches removed.
