I have a 1979 CB750K that's completely stock, and an 1982 CB750 that I mess around with as a cafe racer. I ended up with a 2007 GSXR fork from a 1980 GSX750. Anyway, I want to put it on the 82 and possibly move the 82 front end to the 79 (would like the dual disk on the 79, since that is my daily and has better brakes).
The stem is too short, for the GSXR fork to fit the 82 CB750 and I know Cognito makes one for about $200. I found a Cognito stem on Marketplace for $50, except it is for the SOHC.
The question is: would the stem work with spacers, etc.?
Second question: besides the fact that it's no longer stock, are there any downsides to swapping the '82 front end onto the '79?
