Just stripped my front forks to fit the new seals and stanchions which I bought some months back and have discovered mine are 580mm long and the replacements are 607mm long, looking up the part number 51411-392-003 the spec comes back 607mm although someone did say some are 580mm! As I bought these last September I doubt if I can return them now, if I fit the 607mm what other parts would I need? guessing springs for sure. Did a search and didn't find any info on here.

The spring length is around 500mm as per the Haynes manual so 580mm must be the right length for the stanchions, I have found one genuine Honda stanchion the right length which I have purchased for a reasonable price but still need another one for the other side.

My springs were the same , 500mm when I rebuilt and cleaned my forks , I didnt measure the tube sorry . You could put in a spacer and raise the fork as much as you can in the stanchions or do what I had to with my DRZ400 and put risers on the fork yoke to allow you to raise the forks . I couldnt stand with the original setup . You can get low risers of only an inch I think

I think I'm missing a part from the bottom of my stanchions, part No. 51432-390-003 oil lock, which seems to be a bush to trap oil to stop the forks bottoming out on full compression?
My stanchion :-
The pipe comp part No. 51430-392-003 is a loose fit in the hole in the pictures, I think the oil lock should be here to take up the clearance?

Had a lightbulb moment re the oil locks, maybe they're still in the fork bottoms, checked this morning and there they were stuck in the bottom with all the yucky old fork oil, man that stuff was disgusting, obviously hadn't been changed in a while!
Anyway trying to find replacement 580mm fork tubes is proving to be like searching for a unicorn so I'm looking at having mine hard chrome plated back to original spec. waiting for quotes but has to be less than £300 each for genuine as none of the third party suppliers seem to be making them!
BTW the OEM one I thought I'd found turned out to be F2 585mm so managed to cancel before he shipped it.

These forks are driving me crazy! Why can I not find any stanchions for a sensible price 580mm x 35mm, I have found that size for 76 K6 but the bore in the bottom for the oil lock is bigger than mine, I could get new oil locks made at mates rates but would these be compatible with the rest of my forks?
My backup plan was to get mine ground and hard chromed but 2 companies I have contacted don't do them any more, I still have one more to try but they are quoting 7 weeks turnaround! I would really like to see this bike completed this year!!

Well looks like it's going to be rechroming as the K6 ones are too much of a risk, don't want yet another pair of stanchions that won't fit, just have to suck up the turn around time, I'll let you know how it goes.

Mate have you tried your local supplier , david silver ? Wouldn`t have thought that honda had changed or made a completely new fork leg for just one model . Could be time for an upgrade :p

Hi mate yes I did but no information on the part number, it would seem that these legs are only applicable to the F1, 51411-392-003.
The only source I have found is TNK which are manufactured in Italy to OEM specs but with shipping and VAT they come out at about £400 and that's direct from the makers.

As a way of redeeming my situation can anyone tell me which forks these 607mm stanchions DO fit? Thinking I can purchase a pair of forks needing a rebuild, fit my stanchions, new seals etc. and sell them on to help out a fellow CB750 owner to short circuit the turnaround time.
