Hey Just got back into my years delayed K8 project

I just rebuilt that carbs with the deluxe rebuild kit from 4into1, made sure all the floats were sitting at 14.5mm with the carbs on their side

But when I do a clear tube test it appears my floats are set too low. Did i just get unlucky with the new valves/floats or are people running a higher float height out there?

Update - Setting floats to 17.5mm gave me a correct reading with the clear tube method. Is this a reasonable deviation or should I try another set of valves and floats?

Tdubsy 14.5 is the correct height . If the pic shows 17.5 then that is way too much , the level should be below the float bowl join

Maybe will try another set of floats and valves. 14.5 brings the fuel too high and it sits right at the overflow port

When I rebuilt my bike , I bought new floats and did not notice that they were slightly different . I couldnt get the right height and didnt notice untill I compared the old with the new . There was a step in the new float arm and not in the old . The seller when asked about this said " oh they fit all models " Glad they were cheap , so back on with the old ones . maybe the needle and seats are different , did you compare all of the parts ? When I set mine , I just did them like in the pic , the bottom of the float should be parrallel with the carb body
