Fitting brake caliper to CB750K7

Guys, I'm an absolute newbie to the world of Honda so please be gentle....

I have freed and rebuilt the caliper on my 1978 CB750K7. Trying to refit it to the forks, but due to a bent mudguard mounting bracket I am uncertain how this is achieved.

Does the caliper bracket bolt to the the fork leg and then the mudguard bracket (as shown the picture), or does the mudguard bracket sit between the caliper bracket and the fork?

The caliper sits against the fork leg and then the mudguard.

Many thanks. I had come to that conclusion myself. It seems that is had been fitted incorrectly before with the bracket against the fork leg. This had led to very uneven wear on the pads as the caliper would have been running at an angle to the disc.
