I have an 81 CB750F and have owned it since 1986. About 35 years ago, give or take, I had my local Honda shop install a Barnett clutch as I had worn out my stock one and besides the stock one was never very good. I noticed an immediate difference. The Barnett one grabbed much better. Anyways, it is now worn and starting to slip. I pulled the clutch and it actually has 9 Type A friction disks (all the same and no Type B disk) and 8 steel plates (7 Type A plates and 1 Type B plate). Both the Honda and Clymer manuals I have, and the current Barnett website as well as other suppliers, all show that there should be only 8 friction plates. Has anyone seen this before and/or have any idea why they would have installed it this way? I do recall them telling me that they did something different but I was young and didn't really pay much attention.
