Hello. I am new here and am glad to find a group of folks willing to share their experience. I have just acquired a 1974 cb750. I'm confident I will have it running soon as my son in law (from whom I got it) completely reworked the carbs before parking it for a couple of years. A previous owner attempted to convert it to a cruiser by adding ape hangers and replacing the seat with a custom job that raised the passenger seat. The rear foot pegs were raised and the exhaust (a 2 into 1 on either side) was lowered. The pipes are currently held in place with hose clamps attached to the frame. I plan to restore this cycle to its original configuration but have no idea how the pipes were originally secured at the rear of the bike. I can fabricate brackets if necessary but I would like some idea of how it is supposed to look. Thanks

The original exhaust mounted to the triangle shaped hanger at the rear where the rear footpeg mounts. Be pretty easy to google some early 750 picks, you will find it had 4 pipes one on top one below the foot peg mount with a long bolt going though the foot pegs both exhaust and the rear hanger.
