DIY exhaust?

I just got my first CB750 today, a 78 model that has been wrecked and has had the exhaust robbed off it. I need to make some kind of headers for it so I can run the engine for tuning without accidentally warping an exhaust valve. How could I go about this?

My personal plan was to find some pipe that’s about the size of the hole and weld on tabs for the studs, leaving short “zoomies” sticking straight out of the holes. Perhaps once the bike is in a more complete state, I could even just work off that ground work and add some bends to run four straight pipes under the bike.

The bike with the wheelbarrow on it is the bike I got. As you can see, it needs a lot… But since I want to do a hard tail bobber anyway, it doesn’t particularly matter. It wouldn’t be keeping much anyway.

I have a 4-into-1 header I can send you for just the shipping charges + $25. It came off a '78 CB750K. I also have the OEM pipes, but they are rusty on the ends.

Tuning will change with different exhaust so really no point in "tuning" it if it is just a cobble together exhaust that will be changed later. You will have to retune when you finish the exhaust build. There are normally some used exhaust on ebay, check there might find something

I was gonna say used exhausts aren’t much if you find one local. It’ll be easier than trying to make flanges and pipes and all that

I mean “tuning” more like making it run at all also lol
