Choke rod seals in Kehin PD carbs

I am rebuilding a set of Carbs for my '77 CB750K7 Carburetor #2. The question I have is where the choke spring assembly side is, the rod that actuates the chokes gets inserted through the holes on the side of the carbs. There is no "cap" or undercut for a felt washer or an "O" ring if you prefer. how does this seal around the bushings on the shaft itself?
