Charging Issues

1978 CB750F Super Sport. Began to notice battery taking forever to recharge after rides. Checked voltage regulator and found 12+ in and out. Checked stator and discovered 11+. Additionally, field coil will not magnatize bolts. Do I have a defective stator, field coil, or both. Battery is new and 12+ volts. When running a 4,000 will only charge 12 volts. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you.

Have never tried the bolt trick , will do it one day , as mine seems to work and was putting out good voltage when I tested the battery with the bike running . I noticed on my bike when it was restored that the connectors on the harness were in poor condition and would have been hindering everything had I stuck with them . Have you looked at your connections ? I think failures are rare , but a few have happened , hope it`s just a wiring thing
