Working on my project bike again since it’s nice outside. I replaced the oil pan gasket, filter, and o-rings. Noticed there’s still a small oil leak, and traced it back to this and when I removed the cover the gasket for it was already broken in half. What part is this, I’m thinking it’s for the clutch and is it in good condition?

Re-attach the field coil to the alternator cover before putting the cover back in place. Its held in place by the three screws you took out of the face of the cover. Not necessary to dislodge the field coil when removing this cover.
