CB750 Starter Motor

Tha starter motor on my CB750 K2 seems to struggle to turn the engine over.
I have replaced the battery.
Today I noticed that the starter and the earth cable are getting extremely hot when trying to crank the engine.
The bike turns over easy enough on the kick start
Is there a way of testing the starters motor

If you have a Honda Cb750 service manual, you can find instructions on how to test your starter. It may be worn out. I have a few used CB750K electric starters in my workshop, if you can't find a new one.

My starter was doing the same thing. The starter is easy to disassemble. My brushes were still good. Cleaned everything down with spray electronics cleaner. Applied a small amount of grease to the shaft bushings and thrust washers. Works like new. Make sure when you reassemble that the chrome cover attaching bolt holes are both facing the same direction when you bolt it back together.
