Hey all, new to the forum. I have always had old smaller capacity bikes but this is my first 750 project as you will see from the pic below its rather hammerd looking. the previous owner has changed the seat put fork extensions on it and a 16" rear wheel. found this sitting in his shed and the guy politly said if you can do something with it you can have it. the motor is seized but its complete and still oiled up. might seem like a waist to some people but in Australia these things are not that easy to come by. I look at this and see a cool project

Looks like a lot of potential there. The last one I had that was frozen came free after sitting a couple of days with transmission fluid in the cylinders and a little rocking back and forth in 2nd or 3rd gear. They'll surprise you sometimes.

yeah I usually find diesel is a good liquid for freeing up engines but I might try the brake fluid, ive never heard of that before now.

ill keep you all posted as the build progresses. ill be pulling tho donk out this weekend and getting the frame stripped

Cheers

Yeah I did a bit of a strip down and inspection on the old girl. Carbies seem in surprisingly good condition, havn't had any dramas getting any of the bolts undone which is a nice change. the motor is seized but the intake ports are clean as a whistle, looks like the motor has been well lubed but the exaust was totally rusted out and the exhaust ports are are rusty and corroded but under the valve cover looks all good, next to pull the donk out and start getting the frame ready for sandblasting. all in all I have no complaints about the bike considering it was given to me. will post more pics this week

That cb of yours vicman was a good find.. very clean considering the age.

I got a little bit more of mine done. Got the motor out and got it unsiezed. Top end was riddled with wasps nests. But surprisingly in good condition.
just going over a couple of build ideas for it now so I know where im heading with it

Just got a GL1000 Complete front end and rear end. Getting it sent to me this week, hoping ill get the look im chasing with the twin disc front and disc rear

Will post a couple of photos up tonight or tomorrow

Got all the lights working but the turn signals don't blink. I think the winker is not functioning properly.
Also got a ton of crud out of the tank and exposed some pin holes in the bottom. I'm thinkin JB weld and put some sealer in there.

Any other ideas?

I sold a bunch of RC Airplane engines and now have some money for tires.:)

I highly recommend the Caswell tank sealer is a 2 part hard epoxy like sealer that holds up to ethanol and seals pinholes very nicely.

Thanks Moto,

Pretty simple actually.
I pried the cover off the cube and noticed there was some rust on the flat piece (actually not flat but has a kink in it that moves up an down making the bink noise). I took some 400 grit and just cleaned the rust off and plugged it back in. It works perfect now.

No luck. I think I may have a grounding issue. There is one green wire (female spade connection) next to the regulator that does not seem to have a home. Time to go through the wiring diagram in the Clymer's book.
